Question
So, tell me, when you were just a wee 4-year-old, what was the playground scene like when your front teeth decided to take a break from your smile?
Answer
I was playing on the playground and I fell off the slide. When I landed, I hurt my mouth and was bleeding all over. Not only that but my front teeth were gone. My mom said, "Where are your teeth?!!"
Question
How did you feel when you saw your mom's reaction to your missing teeth after that playground tumble?
Answer
My mom was busy trying to find my teeth. I was excited about the big event causing commotion, but also hurt and crying.
Question
How did you feel when the excitement of the big event turned into a moment of pain and tears as you realized what had happened to your front teeth?
Answer
Both of my front two teeth were gone, and we never found them. So she took me to the dentist.
Question
How did you react when you found out what the dentist's plan was for your missing front teeth?
Answer
He took x-rays of my teeth — and found them stuck up in my gums!
Question
What was your reaction when the dentist discovered your missing front teeth were actually lodged up in your gums?
Answer
I was astonished that they could get stuck so far up there that they couldn't be seen. The dentist and my mom were worries that they would cause my adult teeth to become abscessed.
Question
How did the dentist go about retrieving your front teeth from your gums, and what was that experience like for you?
Answer
There was nothing he could do. We just had to wait for them to grow in.
Question
How did having to wait for your front teeth to grow in affect your day-to-day life as a 4-year-old?
Answer
I was a little nervous and worried I would have terrible front teeth. I was also wondering when my baby teeth would come out or down, but I never saw the baby teeth again.
Question
How did your concerns about your front teeth and the disappearance of your baby teeth impact your self-image and confidence as a young child?
Answer
I don't think it impacted me much and all kids lose their front too baby teeth I just lost them a little sooner so I might have thought it was a little bit cool but I wasn't eager and waiting quite long for my front teeth to finally come in
Question
Did you ever come up with any funny or creative excuses for why you had no front teeth, and how did your friends react when they saw your smile?
Answer
I don't think my friends reacted I didn't really have friends at that time because I was in where I wasn't in school but I guess I had some neighbor friends and they didn't think much of it cuz a lot of kids were losing their front teeth who were just a little bit older than me
Question
What was it like for you during that waiting period for your front teeth to grow back—did you come up with any fun ways to distract yourself or make the most of your toothless grin?
Answer
He wasn't it was amazing he was really great
Question
What do you remember most about the dentist himself—was there anything particular about his demeanor or approach that made the experience feel amazing, despite everything you were going through?
Answer
I just remember how awesome was
Question
What made your dentist so awesome in your eyes—was it his personality, his way of making you feel comfortable, or maybe even the way he handled the tooth situation with humor?
Answer
Dang that's cool
Question
Was there ever a moment during your time waiting for those front teeth to come in when you felt extra confident or proud of your smile, even without the teeth?
Answer

Question
What do you think it was about your personality or charm that had all those girls swooning over you, even with your missing front teeth?
